Saint Francis of Assisi

Saint Francis of Assisi
Giovanni Francesco di Bernardone was born in
Assisi (Umbria / Italy) in 1181 or 1182
and died in October 3, 1226.

He was a Catholic deacon and preacher.
Was also the founder of the Order of Friars Minor,
more commonly known as the Franciscans.
After a care free youth, he turned his back on inherited wealth
and committed himself to God and like many early saints,
he lived a very simple life of poverty.

He is known as the patron saint of animals,
the environment and one of the two
patrons of Italy (with Catherine of Siena),
and it is customary for Anglican and Roman Catholic churches
to hold ceremonies blessing animals
on his feast day (October 4th).

The prayer of St. Francis

Lord, make me an instrument of your peace,
Where there is hatred, let me sow love.
Where there is injury, pardon.
Where there is doubt, faith.
Where there is despair, hope.
Where there is darkness, light.
Where there is sadness, joy.

O Divine Master, grant that I may not so much
Seek to be consoled as to console.
To be understood as to understand.
To be loved as to love.
For it is in giving that we receive.
It is in pardoning that we are pardoned.
And it is in dying that we are born to eternal life.

Brazilian Presidential Elections 2010

"É um erro popular muito comum acreditar que
aqueles que fazem mais alarde em favor do publico
sejam os mais preocupados com o seu bem estar."

"A única coisa necessária para o triunfo do mal
é que homens bons nada façam.”

"A hipocrisia pode se dar ao luxo de ser magnífica
em suas promessas, uma vez que não tendo
nunca a intenção de ir além de promessas, nada custa."

"A Boa Ordem é o alicerce de todas as coisas."

( Edmund Burke )

"It is a general popular error to suppose the loudest complainers
for the public to be the most anxious for its welfare."

"All that is necessary for the forces of evil to win in the world
is for enough good men to do nothing."

"Hypocrisy can afford to be magnificent in its promises,
for never intending to go beyond promise it costs nothing."

"Good order is the foundation of all things."

I guess the World will never be the same
After that clear blue sky Tuesday.
I know for sure that I never will.
Everything changed.
Priorities were revised.
Goals were rethought.
Life itself was questioned.
I like to think that I changed for better.
My prayers go out to those
Who perished on that fatidic day in September.
With hopes that they all have found The Light ...
And therefore Peace.
I guess I will be observing this date for the rest of my life,
With all the respect it deserves.
I was sad then as I am sad now,
But healing is a long process, after all ...
Love changes Everything !

Rue McClanahan
1934 - Forever

Thank you for being a friend
Traveled down the road and back again
your heart is true you're a pal and a confidant
And if you threw a party
Invited everyone you knew
You would see, the biggest gift would be from me
and the card attached would say,
Thank you for being a friend.
...

My hat is off, won't you stand up and take a bow
...
(I want to thank you)
Thank you for being a friend
...
And when we die, and float away
I'll see you there, and once again
Thank you for being a
Thank you for being a friend

Thank you for being a friend !

Another real star is shining up above in the sky

Dixie Carter passed away today at the age of 70 ...

I grew up in the sixties ... in front of a TV set ...
and like the children of today that
can't live without their computers, and that think of it
as the most natural thing in the World,
so did I in regard to a TV set. And as time went by,
I lived my life making my favorite TV shows a part of my life.
A part of myself. As a child I watched Bewitched
and I Dream of Jeannie ... and Lost in Space ...
and Get Smart ...
Later on, in the 70's it was The Mary Tyler Moore Show
and The Love Boat ... and so many others ...
And then came the 80's ... and with it, two shows
that made me forget the troubles and get happy :
'' The Golden Girls'' and ''Designing Women''.
And that's why I can't avoid feeling helplessly sad
for the premature loss of my beloved idol Dixie Carter.
I feel sad the same way I felt when Elizabeth Montgomery ...
and Estelle Getty ...
and Bea Arthur
passed away.
Another one of my idols is gone ...
Another one of my idols became a real star ...
high up above ...

Thank you Dixie for making me happy
for at least half an hour a week ...
For making me laugh not at you,
but with you ...

The Party's Over / Bells Are Ringing

The party's over, it's time to call it a day.
They've burst your pretty balloon and taken the moon away.
It's time to wind up the masquerade.
Just make your mind up the piper must be paid.
The party's over. The candle’s flicker and dim.
You danced and dreamed through the night,
It seemed to be right just being with him.
Now you must wake up, all dreams must end.
Take off your make up, the party's over.
It's all over, my friend.
